...and Working...

I haven't posted much new about the basement this week - mostly because what's been happening down there lately doesn't really need pictures, but mostly because when we actually have school for a whole week (OK, we had a snow day today but we worked four and a half days including conferences last night) it's difficult to have time to do much of anything extra. Ben didn't get a chance to do any painting since Sunday until today. And when we stopped to count up yesterday, we realized Maria is currently involved in 7 activities - dance, gymnastics, piano, 4-H, DI, musical, and basketball. We didn't mean to get that busy - it just kind of happened - but will get easier slowly but surely, as basketball ends tomorrow, DI ends after next Saturday, etc.

Anyway, here's what's been going on in the basement. The bathroom is almost done - the floor is in, the toilet and sink are in, and the elevator (sewage lift station) is installed. The plumber will call the inspecter Monday, he'll come out Tuesday, after which the plumber will be able to get everything hooked up and working. So bathroom should be done by Wednesday.

The electrician stopped in today - he's gathering all of the finishing supplies - switch plates and covers for canned lights, etc. - and coming out to install that stuff and add a switch in the back room on Tuesday. After that, I think it's just inspections and carpet left. When the carpet is being installed is the only detail we haven't heard about yet - but we're hoping to be done by next weekend.

Ben and I both painted most of the morning, and he's back at it this afternoon. I've been doing laundry and plan to get everything dusted - again - before the day is over - the dust is everywhere and drives me crazy! The painting is kind of depressing - every time you think you're making progress, you are reminded of 50 more things that need done. Painting a room from scratch is easier in a way - no carpet to work around, but you have lots of extras - woodwork, door jambs, window casings, banister, door to cabinet, wood around pole, etc. We need to be finished by the end of the weekend so having today has really helped. We just have to tell ourselves that in June when we're making up the day missed today.
