Pumpkin Carving

Tonight we carved the jack-o-lanterns for Trick or Treat, which is Thursday night here. The kids took a more active role than ever this year, with Maria even doing her own carving. Sam helped design his - he has had his heart set on a Frankenstein face - even chose a tall skinny pumpkin for it. Sam also started to clean out the seeds and pulp, but that didn't last long and soon it became my job. At least he didn't throw up after smelling the pumpkin guts, like he did last year, as Maria keeps reminding us.

Maria cleaned out all her guts and did the drawing and carving on her own this year. Hers is a Spongebob face, which she designed on her own too. After the carving was done, we took them outside and lit them up, and took pictures in the freezing cold (at least the rain had stopped). Sure hopes it warms up before Trick or Treat on Thursday!
